7:30PM, $5, All Ages.

@ Sage Sound Studios - 549 Howe Ave, Shelton, Connecticut 06484 Monsters of Acoustic Rock #31 on October 19, 2018 will feature special performances by:

New to Monsters of Acoustic Rock, Passings Strange, hail from Southern CT and will be gracing the Sage Sound Studios live room with their emotive sounds laced with vintage rock, jazz, and blues.

Passing Strange came together in April 2017 out of Kate playing solo open mics and Anthony seeing Kate perform; ultimately suggesting that he accompany Kate on drums. Anthony's drumming brought additional layers to Kate's singer/songwriter creations, solidifying their chance meeting as meant to be.

Passing Strange combines Kate's alt-rock and indie influences from Tori Amos, Julien Baker, Death Cab For Cutie, and Brand New, with Anthony's varied rock/hard rock inspirations from The Doors, Deftones, and Marilyn Manson.

Passing Strange won 3rd place in 2018 CTNOW’s Best of Hartford Reader’s Poll for both the Best New Band category and CT Song of the year, for “Pacific Northwest.” The band’s second album, Come Whatever Storms was released in July 2018 and can be found on:

Passing Strange will also be performing at an upcoming Benefit Concert on Nov 4th to benefit Bridges Healthcare and Milford Prevention Council to fight against the opioid crisis.

Ashely Hamel
Ashley Hamel - Music for dreamers, lovers, and wizards

Another first-timer to MoAR, Ashley Hamel from Central CT, is a singer-songwriter and improv artist who has a loyal following in the Harry Potter fans community. This "wizard rocker" not only bleeds with emotive songs as part of her repertoire, but also heals with down right hilarious, tongue-in-check numbers.

Well-versed in many areas of the performing arts, from improv comedy with her groups The Rumor Cauldron and Harry Potter & the Brilliant Suggestion (based out of Hartford's Sea Tea Comedy Theater), to performing musically with the high-energy cover band, HEAT, Ashley has even grown an international fanbase in Indonesia from a two month residency spent there.

Ashley is currently in the studio working on her "wizard rock" concept album, "WZRD", for release in Fall 2018.

Anders Johnson performing for the first time at MoAR
Anders Johnson

We're all about first-timers at Monsters of Acoustic Rock on October 19th, 2018! Anders Johnson, also a local singer/songwriter from Connecticut, will grace our studio's live room with a combination of traditional folk stylings, sprinkled with alternative rock hooks. Frequently showcasing his skills at popular restaurants, bars, lounges, and country clubs all across the area, we're excited to have Anders play our unique, intimate space in heart of Shelton, CT.

Zach, the undisputed veteran of MoAR, will continue to surprise us in October via a randomized set at MoAR 31, by using an app to mix his collection of songs. Attendees of MoAR in September were treated to many deep tracks and songs only performed a handful of times by Zach as a result of this fresh way to build a set!
