The First Monsters of Acoustic Rock of 2019, this Friday, 1/25 at Sage Sound Studios

Updated: Feb 2, 2019

MoAR #34 kicks off the 2019 season this Friday, January 25th with performances by Audio Jane, The Modifieds, Erick Northrop and Zach Andersen.

7:30pm Doors, $5, All Ages

@Sage Sound Studios in Shelton, CT

We are thrilled to welcome Audio Jane for a rare acoustic performance and their debut in the Sage Sound Studios live room. Hailing from Hartford, CT, the band includes Sarah Pech on vocals and rhythm guitar, Mike Goldberg on lead/rhythm guitar, Dave Ciciotte on lead/rhythm guitar and vocals, Eric Groenstein on bass, and Mike Ciunci on drums.

With reverb-drenched vocals, atmospheric guitars, and a heavy rhythm section, Audio Jane are reminiscent of 90's alt-rock, helping to secure their place as a contemporary "grunge" band.

The band's second full length album, Letters, was released in November and was included in the Hartford Courant's 2018 list of Top 20 albums by Connecticut Artists. This is not the first time Audio Jane has been listed among the best in CT - Their previous release, Naive, won CTNow's 2018 Best of Hartford Reader's Poll for Best Connecticut Album of the Year. The band's live performances have also been recognized by the New Haven Independent in their list of Best Live Shows in 2018.

Keep up to date with Audio Jane by following them on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. You can buy their new album on Bandcamp or stream their entire catalog on Spotify.

Another band making their MoAR debut is The Modifieds. Originally formed in 2014 as an acoustic trio, the band made some changes in October 2015 when they began performing as a duo throughout Connecticut. The duo paired Zac Palarino on guitar and Blue on bass and vocals. In December of 2017, the duo once again became a trio when Ian Goncalo joined the group on drums and percussion.

This indie rock trio began recording their debut album, People You Can Count On, in 2016 (officially released in March of 2018). In support of the release, the band headed out on their first regional tour playing shows throughout Connecticut, New York, Massachusetts, and Vermont.

You can check out the band's debut release on Spotify and Amazon Music. Follow them on Facebook, Instagram and YouTube to stay up to date on what they are up to.

The final performer making his MoAR debut this month is Erick Northrop. We are looking forward to Erick bringing his raw, energetic performance style and "Summer Not Bummer" songwriting to the Sage Sound Studios live room.

Erick is known for having a distinct voice in the country music scene, writing songs that harken back to the days of country music's past with personal and relatable lyrics.

His EP, Hole in The Wall, was released In June of 2018 and is a combination of outwardly guitar-laden rock songs and thought provoking acoustic ballads. You can stream the EP on Spotify or Apple Music, or by the CD direct from Erick's website (or even better, at MoAR on Friday night!).

Stay up-to-date on Erick's upcoming shows by following him on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.

The first edition of Monsters of Acoustic Rock in 2019 brings with it the return of MoAR co-creator and booker extraordinaire, Zach Andersen. Each month, not only does Zach treat the audience to a set filled with emotive music and lyrics with choruses you can sing along to, but he also takes the time to interview each first-time performer and post the interviews as part of his YouTube series, "From Z to A: Alphabetical Interviews with Zach Andersen". He'll be busy this month as we have three fantastic newcomers on the bill!

Check out Zach's interviews from MoAR #33, featuring: Him or Her, Jeff Burnham and the Insiders and Kat Matt & Tor Trio.
